Queens Tech Corner: Michelle NG of Neuemoon Health

It’s Queens Tech Corner time! The Queens Tech Corner is a regular segment on our Queens Chamber social media channels where we shine the spotlight on tech entrepreneurs doing exciting things right here in Queens.

This week’s featured tech entrepreneur is Michelle Ng, founder of Neuemoon Health, an app currently in beta testing that helps women suffering from endometriosis and fibroids understand their symptoms better, track their care history, and learn about holistic lifestyle changes that can be helpful.

How did you get your start in tech?

Neuemoon Health started from my personal health struggles. I have endometriosis and fibroids. Unfortunately, there's a lack of knowledge, research, and treatment options for women's health both on the patient's side and in the medical community. We still don't know what causes these reproductive disorders, and many women don't know they have these conditions even when they suffer from the symptoms. It's difficult for patients to find suitable treatment options for themselves.

Personally, after a long process of consulting with many doctors and specialists, while my symptoms have improved, my quality of life is still impacted significantly, and I'm still on the path to finding a solution. Many women have a similar struggle. As I speak to more women for Neuemoon, I hear horror stories about their experiences navigating their symptoms and medical care. This is not right. I wanted to build Neuemoon to educate patients, help them find the right doctor, and guide their journey. It is still in its infancy, but I'm excited to continue building it.

How have you been working to support your local community?

Outside of Neuemoon Health, I co-founded a non-profit called Project Alpaca, which helps CUNY students from underserved backgrounds enter the tech industry. Unfortunately, ever since COVID, it has become increasingly difficult for young people to get entry-level roles because companies are focusing on experienced hires instead. My co-founders and I created Project Alpaca and its 9-month mentorship program to help CUNY students and graduates build their portfolios and expand their networks through community events and company visits.

Why are you excited about the future of tech in Queens?

Queens is the most diverse county in the US. The solution for women's health should be equitable and accessible for everyone. The environment in Queens enables me to think more holistically about the people I want to serve and interact first-hand with people from different socio-economic backgrounds. I also firmly believe in growing local talent and improving diversity in tech. I hope to provide opportunities in the future once Neuemoon becomes more established.
