Queens Tech Corner: LifeTrons Health

It’s time for another Queens Tech Corner feature! The Queens Tech Corner is a new, regular segment on our Queens Chamber social media channels where we shine the spotlight on tech entrepreneurs doing exciting things right here in Queens.

This week’s featured tech entrepreneur is Kofi Halm, the founder of LifeTrons Health, a Queens-based company that helps people keep track of their health and wellness using the power of technology.

What made you want to work in the field of health technology?

My passion for health and wellness runs in the family. My mom worked in the healthcare industry, and when I was young, she often took me to work at the hospital with her. I saw firsthand the impact that she and her coworkers had on countless people’s lives. When my mom passed away in 2018, I knew it was important to keep her memory alive, making a difference like she did by bringing access to health and wellness to communities that have been historically underserved.

How has LifeTrons adjusted to deal with the pandemic?

The pandemic has reaffirmed to me how important our health care workers are – it’s truly rewarding to work in this field alongside them. At LifeTrons, we were thankfully able to weather the storm without too many adjustments. We don’t have a brick-and-mortar shop, so we were able to continue business as usual in many ways, although not having in-person meetings for many months was tough.

We’ve been able to make some new connections with companies overseas, and we’re implementing some innovative ideas such as gamification for our middle-aged users in our fall season. Living a healthy lifestyle shouldn't be thought of as being boring. In addition, users can look forward to new bundle packages and new telehealth services online in our Lifecare sister app. Instant access to dietitians/nutritionist will be at your fingertips.

Why are you excited about the future of the tech industry in Queens?

Our borough has a lot of untapped potential–I’m always getting the word out that Queens is diverse and ripe for business. More and more people are listening, and realizing that Queens is a hidden treasure, waiting to be explored. We hope to extend our services by offering grants to two college bound students in the near future.
